He has been engaged in creative activities in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District since 2000. Worked as the Director of MBUK CKS in Novy Urengoy, the chief Director GAUK YANAO “District Centre of national cultures,” at the present time – the main Director of GAU YANAO “Cultural-business center”, Salekhard.
He has the highest level of professionalism, inexhaustible creative potential, excellent organizational skills, the ability to see the future, correctly allocate creative forces and time, which allows him to solve the most global problems in the shortest possible time. In his directorial activity, A.V. Sotnikov has a special gift for purposefully shaping his inner artistic world and paying exceptional attention to the search for the visual possibilities of the stage language. Innovative techniques of the director always doom any of his projects to stunning success not only among the residents of the district, but also among the official guests of Yamal of various ranks. For Andrey Viktorovich, there are no unsolvable problems and questions. During the implementation of the most complex projects, he skillfully combines the creative forces of the institution (and, if necessary, the city, district), creates a team of professional like-minded people who are able to realize all his artistic ideas. The projects implemented by A.V. Sotnikov are always executed at a high artistic level, carry a high ideology, and contribute to introducing the younger generation and youth to the best examples of folk art, its spiritual and moral enrichment. A.V. Sotnikov’s continuous professional, creative, and personal growth constantly involves all those who work with him in the team in this process, and inevitably leads to a constantly progressing success and rating not only of the institution that the director represents, but also of the entire cultural sphere of the district as a whole. Knowledge of the basics of traditional culture of indigenous minorities of the North, their customs and traditions, help the Director to revive, promote and develop the unique culture of Northern minorities, generate interest and respect to the representatives of the numerous nationalities living on the territory of YANAO. Andrey Viktorovich Sotnikov is a member of the Art and Expert Council, which carries out the expertise of the activities of amateur art collectives in the district, applying for the assignment (confirmation) of the title “People’s (Exemplary) Folk Art Collective”. A high level of professionalism, maturity and boldness of judgment in assessing creative skills and abilities, a clear understanding of the requirements for the modern development of culture and folk art – priority qualities, thanks to which Sotnikov A.V. acts as the Chairman of the jury of competitions and festivals of folk art at the district and regional levels. Andrey Viktorovich Sotnikov was awarded a commemorative medal for his significant contribution to the preparation and holding of the XXII Olympic Winter Games and the XI Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi. Winner of the Governor’s Award of the Yamalo-Nenets District in 2015. Winner of the All-Russian Award for achievements in the field of mass forms of theater art “Facets of the Theater of the Masses” in 2015 in the category “Best Regional Holiday”.
