The cultural and business center is the largest cultural institution of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous region and the main concert venue, which opens up various facets of art to the Yamal audience. The Concert Hall’s poster annually presents the best performances by artists of the professional musical and theatrical arts. Salekhard included such famous artists as Valery Meladze, Evgeny Grishkovets, Sergei Bezrukov, Denis Matsuev, Konstantin Raikin, Goran Bregovich, Igor Butman, Evgeny Margulis, Ilze Liepa, Fedor Dobronravov, and others in their tour routes.
The cultural and business center for the first time solemnly opened its doors on September 13, 2008. The institution was created in accordance with the resolution of the Administration of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous region dated October 6, 2006 No. 439-A as a State cultural institution “Cultural and Business Center” in order to exercise the powers of the state authorities of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous region in the field of cultural and entertainment services for the population of the Autonomous region, methodological support for the activities of institutions of additional education for children in the field of culture and art. In April 2011, the organizational form of the Institution was changed in accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous region No. 147-P dated 03.23.2011 “On the creation of a state autonomous institution of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous region “ Cultural and Business Center ”.
The founder of the State Autonomous Institution of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous region “Cultural and Business Center” is the Department of Culture of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous region.
The governing bodies of the Institution are the Supervisory Board and the Director of the Institution.
Today the institution meets all modern technical requirements necessary for organizing and holding culturally significant events.
The building of the Cultural and Business Center was built as a complex of two adjacent buildings – the Concert Hall and the Congress Center, connected by walkways. The concert hall was equipped with modern sound and light equipment, the capacity of the auditorium was 686 seats. During the operation of the Cultural and Business Center in the Concert Hall, a large number of interesting and diverse events have been implemented: festivals, competitions, concerts, performances, show programs, educational events. The Congress Center, designed for holding official events (conferences, symposia and seminars), houses an Official Meeting Hall with 120 seats, a Press Center with 30 seats and a Reception Hall with a capacity of 250 people. Economically and socially significant official events are held in the Congress Center: media forums, meetings, press conferences, meetings, official visits of international delegations, etc. Federations, International Arctic Forums “The Arctic – Territory of Dialogue”, International Scientific and Practical Conferences on Permafrost.
In 2014, the Cultural and Business Center presented a grandiose project to the Yamal audience – the Festival of Theater Arts in Yamal “The First Theater” to show the best that exists today in the performing arts. Every year, within the framework of the First Theater, on the stage of the Concert Hall, you can see classical and modern performances of famous theaters. The guests of the Festival have already become: Theater “Satyricon” under the direction of Arkady Raikin, Theater. Mossovet, the Provincial Theater, Oleg Tabakov’s Moscow Theater, Praktika Theater, Nelly Uvarova, Chulpan Khamatova and others. In each new creative season, the scenery, theaters change, and along with them the theme of the First Theater, uniting performances with a single leitmotif.
2018 became a landmark year for the Cultural and Business Center. The staff of the institution has increased. The line-up included soloists and two ensembles – the Governor’s National Song Ensemble “Shoyotey Yamal” and the Governor’s National Dance Ensemble “Syra’Sev”. And in 2020, the audience was presented with the new Chamber Ensemble of the Cultural and Business Center, which included professional musicians from all over Russia. The presence of basic collectives and soloists is a prerequisite for development, and now the institution can fully be called a philharmonic society.
In September 2019, another significant event took place at the Cultural and Business Center – the presentation of the new Steinway & Sons grand piano, which was personally chosen by the pianist, virtuoso, People’s Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev and revealed the full sound of the instrument at the concert program. The new instrument, which has a rich palette of sound colors, helped to expand the repertoire of the Cultural and Business Center programs by holding concerts of high-class professional domestic and foreign performers in the field of academic music, which significantly enrich the cultural life of Yamal.
